Scientists are perplexed by a new natural phenomenon: hurricanes became the causes of earthquakes.
Hurricanes are wind cyclones of destructive power. The colossal water energy induces intense seismic activity of the ocean, and as a result - the fluctuation of the earth's crust (earthquake). It is still not clear why seismologists had not previously noticed the interconnectedness of these natural phenomena.
A detailed analysis of ocean vibration data and tremors from 2006 to today showed that weather conditions, namely hurricane cyclones, cause severe storms, seismic waves and micro-earthquakes. Observations showed that such anomalies were formed in the Gulf of Mexico, off the coast of Scotland, Florida and Canada.
Seismic activity could last up to several days in a row. However, a storm in a shallow coastal area does not always cause concussions. Often there are times when hurricanes do not provoke movements of the earth's crust. This is due to the inappropriate structure of the mainland plate. Experts have not yet figured out exactly what properties the bark should have.
The expeditionary team is convinced that such actions are likely to occur in other parts of the world, including Europe and even Australia, just that the phenomenon has not yet been noticed. Even despite the fact that the Australian continent is the only one that does not fit at the junction of lithospheric plates. As you know, earthquakes just arise on the faults of tectonic platforms. But over time, in connection with the so-called "hurricane earthquakes", in the near future, scientists will record such phenomena there too.
Most likely, the main reason is that on the screens and sensors of the equipment, the signals of seismic movements are perceived as noise and are not taken into account. This time, scientists using a special device for recording surface vibrations (seismograph) made observations, focused on small vibrations and found that storms are still associated with hurricanes and even are their consequence.
The north-east wind energizes the ocean with the energy of powerful waves during the storm season. This question worries scientists at a serious level, because earthquakes are poorly understood and very unpredictable. A detailed study of the causes and nature of the tremors can prevent them, and prevents panic among the population.
Theoretically, such activity can harm people on a large scale, but scientists say that it is not so dangerous for human life. Moreover, these phenomena even contribute to research. Oscillations serve as a kind of ultrasound of the earth's surface. In addition, the underground points are useful in the study of ocean storms.
In connection with these events, high seismicity will not be considered characteristic only for rocky areas.
